This documentary performance tells the story of Chika Honda, a Japanese female tourist who spent a decade in prison for a crime she has always insisted she did not commit. She was one of a Japanese tour group who were arrested, convicted and sentenced to jail for importation of heroin in 1992. She was released on parole and deported in 2002.

Chika is a multi layered production utilising documentary images and interviews, archival video, original music and choreography. It is contemporary story telling, crossing the disciplines of journalism, visual and performing arts, incorporating live music, dance, and narration, projected images and recorded voices. http://www.mayu.com.au/chika/ (Sighted 21/02/05)
