'Julian Meyrick's criticism Trapped by the Past : Why Our Theatre Is Facing Paralysis (2005) inspired State of the Arts to organise a virtual round table. Along with Julian Meyrick were the newly appointed artistic directors. Michael Kantor from Malthouse (formerly Playhouse), Melbourne, Tom Gutteridge from Black Swan Theatre Company, Perth and Sally Richardson, head of the independent Steamworks Arts Productions.
