AbstractHistoryArchive Description

English romance of nobility. An impoverished handsome nobleman is convinced to win an heiress to retrieve his fortunes. He visits Lady Derwentwater's country house, openly avowing his attentions, and wins the love of his lady Maud Reading against her scornful intentions. Only when it appears that she too has lost her fortune is his true love revealed. Dashing passionate country house romance - formulaic but effective. (PB)
