  • The seven articles that made up this piece were originally published in the Townsville Daily Bulletin in 1884 under the title Homeward Bound and the byline 'Travelling Correspondent'. The articles were reprinted in Banfield's father's newspaper in Ararat. The original seven articles were later edited by Banfield and published as The Torres Straits Route from Qeensland to England by the British-India Steam Navigation Company's Royal Mail Steamer 'Chyebassa'.(T.Wilmett, 1885)
