The faithful love of youthful cousins is disturbed when Douglas takes an appointment in India. After three years his letters cease and Carry Sherwood agrees to marry Lord Sudley. Only after the engagement does she truly know her betrayal, and when Douglas returns she falls ill and he is thrown from his horse and killed. Competent introspective romance. (PB)
