- According to the Australian Women's Weekly, at least some of the scenes were filmed on specially designed stages, rather than on location: 'Working from five volumes of photographs taken in 1901 by the NSW Government to show how neatly the streets of Sydney had been cleared up after a bubonic plague, Jonah's production designer, Roger Ford, had created an H-shaped set of three streets'.
