A story about the McGee and Hamilton children during their holidays at their summer house, Gull's Point, which overlooks the sea. The five 'McHam' children break Mrs. Hamilton's new beach umbrella and need to earn money to replace it. They find work helping out at the local lemonade factory. The McHams are keen to learn about how soft drinks are made, but they also learn that there is a mystery surrounding the pineapple drink.
