Notes:

1. The Adventures of Barry McKenzie was one of the first films to receive money from the Australian Film Development Corporation. Note: The Age (30 March 2003) article celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the film incorrectly states that this was the first film to receive funding from the AFDC. The Hans Pomeranz-produced film Stockade (q.v. 1971) was, in fact, the first to be awarded a grant ($16,000). McKenzie was, however, the first film to be fully funded by the AFDC.
2. The film was distributed in Australia by Philip Adams, and, although panned by the critics, was hugely popular with Australian audiences. The $250,000 grant from the AFDC was returned to the Australian government within three months and the film went on to return a significant profit for the producers. The film was also well-received by British audiences, and established a record for any Australian film released in England to that date.
