BiographyHistory

Gerard Smith was a Brisbane poet. He attended the University of Queensland, and at one point was an associate editor of Tweed. He was killed in a car accident in 1978. The March 1979 issue of Tweed was dedicated entirely to him, and contained a selection of his poems (mostly untitled) under the title 'Landscapes of Loneliness: Poems 1971-1978'. Many of his poems involve themes of desire and gay sexuality.
