BiographyHistory

Andrew Bond Oliver Charles Anderson was an English writer whose novelistic satire on provincial life - Rotten Borough published under his pseudonym Julian Pine - caused a great deal of controversy in England and was removed from publication shortly after it was first written. There was renewed interest in the book in England during the 1980s after it was revealed that some of the characters in the novel were based on Margaret Thatcher's relatives.

Although not an Australian author, Anderson is included in AustLit because Rotten Borough appears in the Banned in Australia subset.
