BiographyHistory

William Langford was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, London, and an Associate of King's College, London, where he was educated. He travelled to Australia as Surgeon Superintendent on the immigrant ship "Rockhampton", arriving in Victoria in 1865, where he practised medicine in Castlemaine and Kyneton. Apart from his two novels, he also published verse. A third novel, Werona (1893), has also been attributed to him by various sources, although it was published under the name of his wife, Grace Langford (q.v.).
