BiographyHistory

American-born and educated academic, who worked extensively in Australia.

David Chandler was a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at Monash University (from 1972), the Director of the Centre of Southeast Asian Studies (from 1979 to 1997), and Professor of History (1993 to 1997).

His poetry has been regularly published in Quadrant. As none of that poetry was written during his stay in Australia, or has Australian themes and references, it is not included in AustLit.
