BiographyHistory

Fred Norris served with the British Navy and Army during the first World War and then migrated to Western Australia under the Overseas Settlement Scheme. He worked at a timber mill and as a farmer in the south west, and then a sheep stationhand at Billabalong.

During the second World War, Norris served as a major in the Australian Army and was at Exmouth when the American Naval Base (codenamed Potshot) was established.
