The Hon. Frank Joseph Scott Wise was elected to parliament in 1933 and served as the WA Premier from 1945 to 1947. Prior to that he was a Minister for Agriculture and for the North West. He led the Labor Party in Western Australia from 1945 to 1951. He was also the Administrator of the Northern Territory from 1951 to 1956. Wise returned to the WA parliament, serving in the Legislative Council from 1956 to 1971 and for a brief period was the Minister for Industrial Development, Local Government and Town Planning.
Wise grew up in Queensland, chosing to become a tropical fruit farmer rather than study at University. He came to Western Australia in 1928 where he worked for the Department of Agriculture and championed the banana industry in the lower Gascoyne Valley. He was awarded an A.O. in 1979.
