BiographyHistory

Daughter of a U.S. Lutheran missionary, Dorothy Hamann was born in India, returning to America with her parents at the age of four.

When she was seven her father came to work at Concordia College in Adelaide, becoming principal of the college and the seminary. Dorothy lived in Adelaide until she was about 27, working at one stage with E. S. Wigg and Son. She moved to Maine, USA, but came back to Australia to settle in Adelaide in 1993.

She published poetry in the United States, including her book To Dance in the Spirit (1993) and since living in Australia has published three books of religious verse.
