BiographyHistory

Born in Ceylon, a Dutch Burgher, Grace Mackie married there and had three children, moving to England to escape the civil unrest in the 1970s. Ten years later, after the breakdown of her marriage, she revisited Sri Lanka, as it was now known. She found that the Burgher settlers had already been all but forgotten, and decided to record her memories of her family life in Sri Lanka.
