BiographyHistory

British author, academic and editor, Marilyn Butler's field relates to the literature and social and intellectual context of the Enlightenment and Romantic periods.

In 1986, she was appointed to the King Edward VII Chair of English Literature at Cambridge, and subsequently became a Fellow of King's College Cambridge. In 1994 she was elected Rector of Exeter College, Oxford.

Marilyn Butler has visited Australia and lectured on seventeenth- and eighteenth-century writers at the Australian National University.
