Florence Mildred Fry was a feminist, a school-teacher and a social worker. She graduated from the University of Sydney with a M.A. in 1905, and spent the years 1906-1912 as principal of the Brighton College for Girls at Manly. She then spent a number of years in England, where she also worked as a school teacher. She married Australian philosopher and psychologist Bernard Muscio in England in 1915, and returned to Australia with him in 1922. From about this time she became actively involved in women's issues and social reform, and she quickly emerged as a prominent figure within the National Council of Women, serving as its federal president in the years 1927-1931. Perhaps better known as Mildred Muscio, she was awarded an O.B.E. in 1938 for her services to the community. She was also the sister of
Edith M. Fry (q.v.).
