Rupert Scott was instrumental in the formation of the Frankston Theatre Group, Victoria, which began as the Frankston Players in 1942. During World War Two community singing was held regularly in the Plaza Theatre, Frankston. This evolved into a talent quest, and eventually to a revue. Scott acted as producer for this revue which was staged successfully by the Frankston Players. Scott's genius as a comedian was noted publicly. In 1943, Scott, with a handful of friends, rehearsing in private homes, staged 'Ten Minute Alibi' for the Red Cross, then 'Rookery Nook', with a cast that included Scott himself as part of a comedy team, then 'Thark', after which the Frankston Players became the Frankston Theatre Group, in 1945. Scott became President. He continued directing plays for the group until 1959.
