BiographyHistory

Educated at Scotch College, Mackay joined the staff of the Bendigo Advertiser in 1879, was editor 1889-1898 and later joint editor with his brother 1898-1918. As well as his novel, MacKay published a History of Bendigo (1891) and Annals of Bendigo (4 vols., 1913-1916).
