Richard Williams may have also written an appeal in verse to Lady Gipps, the wife of Sir George Gipps the governor of New South Wales, 1838-1846. The appeal was published as an extract 'by a Mr Williams [q.v.], formerly a lieutenant in the 9th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry' in the Australasian Chronicle, 28 April 1840.
