Notes

  • Miller and Miller and Macartney have incorrectly named this author as P. J. Maguire and listed two separately published works Irish Lyrics (London, Stockwell) 1922 and The Kiss of Venus and Other Verses (London, Stockwell) n.d. Further research at the British Library indicates that the author is P. I. Maguire and that there is a single publication, Irish Lyrics : The Kiss of Venus and Other Verses (London, Stockwell) n.d. There is no obvious Australian content but for a poem called 'A Greeting' which talks about the narrator greeting a visitor from the 'antipodes' who has come to see the 'mother nation' from a 'distant land' where 'people topsy-turvey stand.'
