BiographyHistory

'Lily' Lowcock was the daughter of London surgeon John Benjamin Lennox Swete (d. 1874) and his wife Henrietta (d. 1862). She might have come to Australia to join one of her brothers. In 1885, not long after her arrival, she married Henry Lowcock, manager of Pullaming Station, near Gunnedah, N.S.W. She was his second wife. In addition to the works which she contributed to the Queenslander and the Maitland Mercury (listed below), it is quite possible that she contributed to other newspapers and magazines as well.
