BiographyHistory

Doran's first job was as a 'nipper' in a railway flying gang. He was promoted to navvy, then steam engine driver and an operator of earth moving machines. He was a union representative. In the 1940s he started writing for provincial newspapers, always defending the underdog. He owned a store at Wirlinga, New South Wales.
