BiographyHistory

Haviland also published a short-lived spiritualist journal Freethought (1880) and the Sydney Fun: A Humorous, Quizzical and Satirical Journal (also 1880). He provided the lyrics for the song 'Land of the Sunny South, All Hail: An Australian National Anthem' (1879, music by Paolo Giorza). This song was again published in 1928 with extra verses and music by N. Mortimer Thomas. As E. Cyril Haviland he wrote Spirits and their Friends, being an Appeal to Reason and Justice in Answer to 'Mediums and their Dupes' (1897)

Haviland was the husband of E. S. Haviland (qv).
