BiographyHistory

George Terry Howe, the son of George Howe established the Tasmanian, and Port Dalrymple Advertiser in Launceston, Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) in 1825. The newspaper ran until May when Howe brought his printing press to Hobart Town and partnered James Ross in publishing the official Hobart Town Gazette from 25 June 1825. In 1827 Howe left the partnership and established the Tasmanian in Hobart Town from 3 March 1827. Howe returned to Sydney in August 1827 and John Macdougall took over the .
