Modan Publishing House began its activity in 1970 and since then has published more than three thousand new books. Headquartered in the moshav of Ben Shemen in central Israel, Modan maintains an average production rate of twenty titles per month, including both original works in Hebrew and translations. The company is part of the Israeli retail group Modan.

Founder Oded Modan was once partnered with Ohad Zmora in his company Zmora-Bitan, and some books, especially in the 1980s, appear under the dual imprints Zmora-Bitan and Modan.
