James Carstairs Kininmonth was a western Victorian pastoralist. He was educated at Geelong College and subsequently attended the University of Melbourne. During World War I, he served at Gallipoli as a lieutenant with the Australian Army Ordnance Corps. He later served in France, where he was awarded the Distinguished Service Order. He also served in the Australian Army during World War II.
