BiographyHistory

Robert Charles Howe (Robert Howe Jnr) was a grandson of George Howe, founder of the Sydney Gazette. His parents were Robert Howe, proprietor and publisher of the Gazette 1820 - 1829 and Elizabeth Lees, a convict. A year old at the time of the marriage of his father to Ann Howe in 1821, Robert was raised by Ann after his father's death in 1829; Ann Howe published the Gazette on behalf of herself and Robert Howe's chidren from 1829.

Robert Howe Jnr became sole owner of the Gazette in 1839. His name is shown as editor from January to October 1841, when he sold the paper to Patrick Grant.
