1 5 y separately published work icon Harold Larwood Duncan Hamilton , London Sydney : Quercus Murdoch Books , 2009 Z1624331 2009 single work biography 'Fast bowler Harold Larwood is a cricketing legend. During the MCC's notorious 1932-3 Ashes tour of Australia, his 'Bodyline' bowling left Australia's batsmen battered, reduced Bradman to the status of mere mortal - and brought England a 4-1 series victory. After the series Larwood was used as a scapegoat by the MCC, which demanded he apologise for his intimidatory bowling. Arguing that he had simply obeyed the instructions of his captain Douglas Jardine, Larwood refused. He never played for England again. Using materials provided by Larwood's family, Duncan Hamilton has created an intimate and compelling portrait of Larwood's life.' (From the publisher's website.)
