In the Goulburn Herald and County of Argyle Advertiser on 6 January, 1849 in a column on page 2 titled 'To Correspondents', the editor addresses Ella: 'Our correspondent is requested to accept our best thanks for her continued favours. She is very melancholy in verse, but witty in prose, and at our expense; but we so dearly love the ladies, that even their sarcasm, levelled at our poor selves, is more acceptable to us than would be their neglect.'
