BiographyHistory

Charles Crompton began writing poetry in honour of the life once led by Andrew Mark Spears. He has honed his craft by taking his words from the page to the stage in the guise of Shaggy Doo Beats B.O.P., a professional performance poet. In 1996 he was the host and poetry coordinator of, 'Beat Route', an event of original live Adelaidean jazz and spoken word at the Cargo Club. In 2009 this event was revived as a regular jazz and poetry night at the Dragonfly Bar in Adelaide's Victoria Square. Charles is inspired by the written words and lives of Beat writers.
