Lisa Davies has focused particularly on crime and court reporting: she was senior court reporter for the Daily Telegraph in Sydney when she began reporting on the Lauren Huxley case, which later formed the basis of her first book.

In 2018, Davies was the editor of the Sydney Morning Herald.
