Dimitris Paivanas was born in Athens in 1961.He arrived in Australia in 1977. He has studied Greek and Modern Greek Literature at Melbourne University and has taught Modern Greek Literature at Melbourne and La Trobe Universities during the period 1984-1993. He has published articles in the weekly Australian newspapers as well as in literary periodicals in Australia, USA and Greece. In 1997, he published a book of poetry and prose titled Monyeloi kai dioptres.
