BiographyHistory

Singer, songwriter, musician, and poet.

Jeff St John had several top ten hits in Australia in the late-1960s and early 1970s, these being 'Teach Me How to Fly,' 'Big Time Operator' and 'Fool in Love.' Having been born with spina bifida he gained additional attention and fame through his dynamic stage performances in a wheel chair.

St John worked with a number of bands - notably John the Syndicate (aka The Wild Oats, 1965), The Id (1966–67), Jeff St John and Yama (1967–68), Jeff St John and Copperwine (1969-72), the Jeff St John Band (1972–73) and Red Cloud (1975-76).

As a member of spina bifida support group MOSAIC, St John was involved in educating people about disabilities for many years He was recognised for both this and his music career by being invited to sing the Australian National Anthem at the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney.

St John's book of poetry, Mind Candy for the Poetically Inclined, was published in 2016.
