'Peter John B. Harris was born at the height of the 'Great Depression' in 1932, the seventh child in a family of eight children. Peter grew up in Belmont and was schooled for the six years of WW II. In 1948 he was apprenticed as a metal spinner. He became a self-employed 'concrete contractor'. In 1973, Peter had a fall at his home and he became a paraplegic. Peter became a school teacher in 1979 and worked for seven years teaching in 'Special Education'. Then he went to Bible College - and onto 26 very happy years teaching Scripture to Year seven children.' (Source: A Life Recalled : An autobiography by Peter J.B. Harris)
