An American adaptation of the Australian television series of the same name.
Although Jason Gann remained involved with the American adaptation, the series took a distinctly different form to its Australian inspiration, and Gann's creative involvement was not as intensive as it was with the Australian version.

David Zuckerman was primarily responsible for adapting the Australian version for American television. In 2013, after the success of this version, there were widespread reports that Renegade Films (the production company behind the Australian version of Wilfred) had sold the concept to a Ukrainian-based production company, Star Media Group, who would make a Russian version called Charlie. As of 2015, no further information on this production is available.
