AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Comprising a selection of 40 songs performed by Weston and Hussey's Minstrels as well as other leading performers and troupes, Clarson, Massina and Company released the first volume of The Weston and Hussey Minstrels Book of Songs in June 1869. The troupe had made its Australian debut at Melbourne's St George's Hall (renamed Weston's Opera House for the occasion) on 31 May. A second volume became public in late August or early September the same year.

Notes

  • In addition to the two Song Book volumes, Clarson, Massina and Company also published a special Weston and Hussey song book (lyrics only) in 1869 as part of its Australian Melodist series.
