  • This issue of the Freeman's Journal also includes:

    • a short report headed 'Entertainments'. The 'entertainments' available in Sydney during the previous week include two circuses and a Japanese acrobatic troupe, together with a pantomime at the Prince of Wales Opera House (p. 13). (The pantomime being produced at the Prince of Wales, but not named in the advertisement, was Harlequin, Jack the Giant Killer, and, The Little Middies of the Galatea.)
    • an advertisement for a public lecture, to be delivered by the Very Rev'd William Kelly at the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts, Pitt Street, on the subject: 'The Labours of Catholic Priests in the Field of Scientific Discovery'
