The evening began with James Robinson Planché's The Loan of a Lover and this was followed by 'a new adaptation of the Oriental burlesque of "Blue Beard"'. The latter was 'introduced by a sprightly prologue, specially written for the occasion by Mr. Frank Hutchinson'.
