— Review of 'Life on the Goldfields': An Entertainment 1866-1867 single work musical theatre ;A review of the 23 June 1868 Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts production of Charles Thatcher's Life on the Goldfields. The reviewer says, in part: 'The monologue is plentifully interspersed with songs, jokes, and recitations, most of the Sydney celebrities coming in for their share of "chaff", the only consolation for the victims being that everyone is served alike.'
