BiographyHistory

'Sister Mary Theodore was born in Brisbane in 1926 as May Therese Asmar, the fifth of eight children in a devout Lebanese immigrant family. She trained as an administrator then worked with the US air force in Brisbane during World War II but chose the religious life joining the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary in 1948. She arrived in Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1951 and began her life’s work' : a 61-year missionary career in India. (Brown, Phil. The Courier-Mail, 30 January 2014: 52)
