AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Leslie Russell Blake served on Mawson’s 1911–14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition as a cartographer and geologist. His brilliant surveying and mapping produced an accurate topographic map of Macquarie Island, an outstanding achievement despite difficult conditions. His cartographic skills earned him a Military Cross in his brief World War I career. Lost in the Mists is based on his diaries, letters and photographs, enhanced with modern illustrations and additional information, including short biographies of all AAE members.'
