AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'The plot centres round an eccentric old miner, who is mysteriously murdered and robbed of his precious sapphires. His nurse is falsely accused and many exciting passages occur before the real criminal is discovered. The star artiste is Thorene Adair, who creditably plays the strenuous part of detective.'

Notes

  • According to Gaetano Rando, Thorene Adair was a pupil of 'Armando Lionello who, in the 1920s, ran the Modern School of Cinema Acting in Brisbane. The school, however, closed subsequent to the considerable scandal caused by the way in which Lionello treated his aspiring actresses and the poor quality of the films he directed such as Retribution (1921)' (p.16).
