Rock opera.

Based on the life of Ned Kelly, combining rock opera, vaudeville, and burlesque. A concept album was released in 1974, prior to the production of the rock opera itself, featuring Jon English, Trevor White, John Paul Young, Reg Livermore, and Janice Slater.

Production Details

  • Produced by the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust, Eric Dare, the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust, and SAS Channel 10, and presented from 30 December 1977 at Festival Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre. Closed after 31 performances (critical response was negative).


    Presented from 4 February 1978 at Her Majesty's Theatre, Sydney.


    Revived from a regional tour of Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, and Rockhampton in January-February 1982, by New Moon Theatre Company.
