BiographyHistory

The Atlantics are an Australian surf rock band founded in 1961. Initially, the band line-up consisted of drummer Peter Hood, bassist Bosco Bosanac, Theo Penglis on lead and rhythm guitar, and guitarist Eddy Matzenik. Matzenik was replaced early on by Jim Skaithitis.

Their best-known song was the surf-rock 'Bombora', while later recordings are 1960s garage rock.

The original line-up produced their last album in 1964 and ceased to perform live in 1970, although they continued as recording and session musicians, often with different bands. They have sporadically re-formed for various projects, including recording Flight of the Surf Guitars in 1999 and releasing a number of compilation albums in the 2000s and 2010s.
