AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'The Newcastle Poetry Prize is Australia's most prestigious poetry award and continues to represent excellence in Australian poetry. Each year it attracts hundreds of entries from distinguished and emerging poets and ‘BUYING ONLINE’ is the 2018 anthology of 30 poems. The Newcastle Poetry Prize represents a wonderful opportunity for Australian poets interested in writing longer poetic works and poetic sequences to have these works recognised and anthologised in the company of their most accomplished peers. The award honours and nurtures some of the bravest poems being written anywhere in the world and, in doing so, it accords poetry the place it deserves in our contemporary culture. - Paul Hetherington, poet. Featuring Ross Gillett, John Watson, Mark Tredinnick, Kevin Smith, Joanne Ruppin, Chloe Wilson, Andy Kissane, Mark O’Flynn, Andy Jackson, Kristen Lang, Alison Flett, Vidhya Karnamadakala, B.R. Dionysius.' (Publication summary)
