  • Searching for Full Text / 搜索全文文档

  • The video below shows how to search for full-text works.

We have used the example of searching for children's fantasy, but the search can be repeated with any of the forms and genres on AustLit. Simply select the relevant options from the drop-down menu.

For more information on how full text operates on AustLit, see Tips for Searching for Full Text below the video.

  • Tips on Searching for Full Text

  • AustLit is not exclusively a full-text database: not all of the records listed on AustLit contain full text.

Full text on AustLit is usually one of three alternatives:

    • work published originally in digital format and linked from its work record.
    • work digitised by either AustLit or a third party (such as the National Library of Australia's Trove) and linked from its work record.
    • original work produced and published by AustLit.

If we include full text for a work, it will be apparent in two ways:

    • either an orange square (for works digitised by AustLit) or a blue tick (for works published externally) next to a work's title in a search result.
    • a 'Read Online' button on the top left-hand corner of a work record.

AustLit provides access to many thousands of full-text works: we recommend using filters to limit your search results when looking for full text.
