'Monkey Grip is a masterpiece of the famous contemporary writer Helen Gamer. The main line of the novel reflects the marginalized characters' lives and state of mind in the sixties and seventies of 20th Century. This article interprets the novel from the perspective of feminism: modem female identity although it obtains the right to pursue love, but caught in the dilemmas in face of lover and husband, but also has to bear the burden of raising children alone. The social significance of the novel is to expose life' s hardship of a single mother, to explore tenacious pursuit of pure love, and modern women's confusion in the face of adversity.
