The young Gatekeeper sneaks back to Medieval England to investigate, but these are dreadful times. The Hundred Years War is raging in France and England is seething with treachery and intrigue. Jenny has to rescue a noble Earl from two attempted assassinations even when she, herself, becomes the suspect and suffers in the castle's torture chamber before she can escape.

In modern times Grimbald is a major player in a modern mob of German criminals called Die Kompanie - The Regiment. At the same time he plays an important role in a medieval regiment of Knights Templar.
